Empowering Change, Inspiring Futures
A New Beginning
To look after orphans and widows in their distress while keeping ourselves from being corrupted by materialism is what God accepts as pure religion according to James 1:27.
A way forward for women and youth from marginalized communities.
Way Out is a registered US nonprofit (501c3) charitable organization with taxexempt status.www.way-out.org
Who we are
Way Out is an organization with deep roots. We are built on decades of experience working with single women—especially widows—and youth from marginalized communities in Sri Lanka, India, and Africa. In many of these communities, generations have faced limited access to education, entrepreneurship, and leadership opportunities. Way Out believes in changing this narrative—by walking alongside local leaders to build pathways of dignity, purpose, and sustainability.
Where We Work
We begin with trusted partners on the ground:
- National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka (NCEASL)
- Foundations for Life Studies (Sri Lanka)
- The Anglican Diocese of Butere of the Anglican Church of Kenya in Butere, Kenya
- The Anglican Diocese of Central Tanganyika in Dodoma, Tanzania
- The Anglican Diocese of Mara, in Mara, Tanzania
- The Centre for Social Equity and Inclusion, India
These are our current partners. We want to focus and build these relationships to see results. Strategically, we are not looking to expand to more partnerships at this time since we don’t want to spread ourselves too thin.
We finished our exploratory visit with our partners and are ready for training, mentorship and startup incubation.
Our Goal
Our goal is to help 2500 widows/single women, and 2500 youth get out of poverty as sustainable entrepreneurs.
Our Programs
Way Out partners with trusted, mission-aligned organizations to train and equip emerging entrepreneurs—particularly single women and youth—through a multi-pronged approach:
- Our training is grounded in community, mentorship, and local wisdom through our partners.
- Helping individuals recognize their innate creativity and potential
- Vocational training in tailoring, livestock and poultry farming, and digital skills.
- Mentorship and peer-support to foster growth in business practices and financial management.
Why It Matters
Women experience high levels of poverty in marginalized communities, and that reality is magnified even more among widows. Way Out is about possibility. It’s about the woman who’s never been asked what her gifts are. The youth who’s never seen themselves as a leader. The story that was never finished—we can change that. We accompany people and help them break out of cycles of poverty—not just through economic opportunity, but through identity, purpose, and voice.
